ART
Nueva Manteca will release its thirteenth album in January 2022. It is called ART and is both a tribute to the legendary group Art Blakey & The Messengers and an ode to the group’s founder, Jan Laurens Hartong. It is exactly in that spirit that Nueva Manteca’s album ART was created. Famous pieces from the various famous line-ups of Art Blakey & The Messengers are arranged by the band.

His partitas and inventions are seen by many as the pearls of his inexhaustible oeuvre and are the focus of this performance. The three musicians of the Música Extrema ensemble and dancers Monik and Dante Dominguez dared to take Bach’s partitas and inventions as their point of departure and, in so doing, tread their own artistic path.
